'Kidulthood' Opening Sequence

Mis-en-scene: Most of the characters and the main characters are all in school uniform with shirts and ties, which shows that they are still at school and at the age of around 15/16, we can also tell that they are still at school by the school bell ringing at the end of their break. Other students are playing football & riding bikes around, the characters are also talking about a party and one is playing what looks like a game boy this also shows that they are still young and innocent.
However, this innocence doesnt last long as 3 older youths appear in the sequence wearing hoodies searching for a girl, and as they do so bully other characters, spitting in ones hair and calling another a fat bitch just for looking at him. These three older boys also convince a group of girls to bully and beat up another, just for looking at them. The three then go on to bully Trife the main character and his friends, makie two of his friends hug for their own amusement and then beat up trife for sticking up for his friends. Also, throughout the opening sequence Trife is at a work shop making/fixing something, which then turns out to be a gun for his uncle, he then has to hide it in a bin of grit salt whilst he goes back to school. This shows how the young characters are easily influenced by older kids/Adults and in this film, in both cases leads to violence.

Sound: Grime/DubStep shows the background/area that its set and that they're in, Sounds of the playground - children, this again like in the mis-en-scene shows their age, that they're still young and at school.

Camerawork: Medium shots are mainly used for the playground scene showing the characters and then pans quickly to another character in the playground, showing how the audience would see the action if they were in the playground. Long shots are also used in the playground to show the bullies in the corner and trife as he leaves the workshop and as he arives at the school.
The shots of Trife are mainly alot closer that the other characters showing him as a main character, with close-ups in the workshop and some at the playground. The machinery at the workshop is shown with Extreme Close-ups, which hides what Trife is actually doing and makes the viewer suspicious and curious as to what he is up to.
