Crime Caper

Crime (Caper with ensemble cast)

Involves one or more crimes (especially thefts, kidnapping etc) perpretrated by the main characters in ful view of the reader.

Examples:

• The italian job
• Oceans 11

Similarities:

• The mafias all wear suits in both films
• 'Mafia' big groups of people involved in crime

Conventions:

• A leader/main character in mafia get the face of the set, they have the biggest names and the actor always has the most time on the set or screen
• The gang members are eventually caught, either because of internal tensions or an ironic twist of fate
• Match on action and continuous editing is usually used
• The scenes are normally fast paced with non diagetic music
• There is normally a chase between the good and the bad e.g. running or a car chase
• Editing fast paced during action to match the music
